Man O’ War

The legendary racehorse depicted as a three-year-old, at the peak of his career. A young Clarence Kummer sits confidently in the saddle, his gaze following that of his mount down the length of the track. He drops his left hand to the horse’s neck, his fingertips lightly touching the coppery coat. A small, silent, gesture of reassurance between two great athletes.

This piece was created as a companion to the artist’s Secretariat sculpture for the combined Man O’ War & Secretariat exhibition at the Kentucky Horse Park, Museum of the Horse, in Lexington.
